Moana rētō, tohora manawaroa – the ocean depths summon the strongest of heart
Yesterday we came together to honour a significant event for Te Kāhui o Te Ohu Kaimoana – the 30 year anniversary of the Fisheries Deed of Settlement.
We heard kōrero from across the fisheries sector, including previous directors of Te Ohu Kaimoana, and from thinkers and doers who are imagining a better future for our moana.
Rukutohorā symbolises the long breath required to dive deep into the oceans, seeing the unseen, feeling the unknown and seamlessly gliding into another world of opportunity. It reflects this auspicious time – celebrating the last 30 years and turning towards the next 30 years.
